Playtime: 1-2 hours

The Earth has dried out and civilization with it. Some of the survivors have managed to eke out a living on the Saltlands: plains left behind by a once great ocean. As worthy heirs of that civilization they soon learned to wring the Saltlands of what little resources it had to offer, even utilizing the usually destructive force of the wind. Their sails run not on water but on wheels and salt. But the Apocalypse is not done with the Saltlands. From the west a storm of raiders, a terrifying Horde on gas guzzling machines approaches in search of their lost God. What will You, the more peaceful people of the Saltlands do? Will you fight and die? Will you become slaves? Only those among the first to escape have a chance. But will any of you find a way out of this corrosive salty wasteland? And even if you do, will you have enough strength to start anew?

Oil Colony

‘Scorched Salt’

The hankerer is still waving towards me – his severed left arm stuck on my front bumper. I didn’t think he’d be such a salt-brain, he didn’t even try to dodge my vehicle.
My car is in bad shape, the front left wheel is vibrating strangely, the bodywork is in pieces, and the fender is loose. I’ll probably have to replace it…

Water Colony

‘Fresh Wind’

She always winds up here with me like she doesn’t have any friends. She’s a normal girl – her parents should’ve regretted ditching her near our settlement, this water distiller plant built adjacent to a small saltwater pond.
Probably she doesn’t know it, but she’s been  pretty useful for me…

Soil Colony

‘Last Sprout’

I wake up to the familiar rattling of precipitation foils. I appreciate this noise because it means that it’s windy today – and wind is our only ally in the Saltlands. The few drops of dew it brings is invaluable. It also eases the burning heat a bit, which is already enough to invigorate one in the desert.
But that’s not the only reason I like it…

Very interesting game concept that can lead to interesting tactics and play situtations. Attila Balázs

Dice & Sorcery - Tumblr

Saltlands is not overly long, but still, it’s tactical and engaging, not only because of its design. It’s obvious that the game plays according to streamlined and thoroughly tested rules. 'KralleKralle'

Dice & Sorcery

In this Mad Max-esque dystopian world, there is only one way out: through the horde of raiders, which is nearly impossible without some form of cooperation. A Saltlands fan

"Board Game" Hungarian Facebook Group

“Feels like a well designed game”

“It’s clever, it really self balances, it’s got lots of clever little things going on in it.”

“One of the characters looks like violent mother Teresa; you can’t argue with a game with that in [it], can you?”

Mike Barnes

I’d like one of these hover-cars in lifesize and fully functional please! Preferably with airconditiong, stereo, and blood-red in color! A Saltlands fan

As a strategy game, Saltlands is a post-apocalyptic chess match, offering unique challenges. Maurice Fitzgerald

Club Fantasci
Hard but winnable, you need to stay on your toes and choose the right tactics depending on the characters, environment and wind direction. […] But after all, someone’s going to bite the ground and that’s why the game is so exciting. Dávid Sajó
A wonderful, climactic experience, a stylized game. Ricky Royal

Box of Delights

I love that you picked a bright design for the boards, cards etc, fits so well into the Saltlands desert theme.

I love post-apocalyptic themes but they are always very grunchy, dark and worn in the design, this feels so fresh. You can just feel the sun burning over the desert by looking at the design of the game!

Johan, a Saltlands fan

It’s clear this is actually a streamlined and rugged bunch of mechanisms all purring together like a finely tuned V8. Mike Barnes

Who Dares Rolls
The greatest virtue of Saltlands is that it puts you into a dangerous and mean post-apocalyptic world, where you chase mythical destinations while fighting for survival. The game mechanics suitably mirror this theme with dynamic exploration and victory conditions, and the various available strategies bring along complex action. Borbíró Andris
